Strengthening the Evidence Base and Capacity for Implementing HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment Programs in the Republic of South Africa under the United States Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief

Grant Amount: Approximate Current Fiscal Year Funding: $10,000,000; Approximate Total Project Period Funding: $50,000,000.
The purpose of this FOA is to fund specialized technical assistance to (1) increase the evidence-base for implementing HIV prevention, care and treatment programs in South Africa, and (2) increase the capacity of local organizations to implement HIV prevention, care and treatment programs in South Africa. The evidence base for HIV programs will be improved through better collection, analysis and use of strategic information derived from monitoring, evaluation, and surveillance activities. The capacity of local organizations to implement HIV programs will be improved through the development of standards, the implementation of quality improvement approaches, the identification of promising practices and models, and innovative use of data in support of program.
Program Area 1: Increasing the evidence-base for implementing HIV prevention, care and treatment programs in South Africa.
Program Area 1 Objective: Inform and enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of prevention, care and treatment interventions through the collection, analysis and dissemination of strategic information.
Program Area 2: Increasing the capacity for implementing HIV prevention, care and treatment programs in South Africa.
Program Area 2 Objective: Improve delivery and monitoring of HIV and TB interventions though targeted capacity building in prevention, care and treatment, strategic information, and health systems strengthening.
