World AIDS Day (WAD) is observed annually on December 1. It was established by the World Health Organization in 1988 to provide individuals and organizations with an opportunity to demonstrate the importance of the global fight against HIV and AIDS.
In the United States, 1.2 million people are living with HIV infection and one in five of those people are unaware of their infection. Worldwide, the estimated number of people living with HIV is 34.2 million.
Join people from around the world in raising awareness about the fight against HIV and AIDS. Use the following resources as individuals or organizations to promote World AIDS Day.
